Android ADB SHELL and LOGCAT Commands

Quick Overview:

  • Connect your android device to your computer using a USB cable
  • Make sure the android device is in developer mode
  • Turn on USB debugging
  • Click USB and check the box, CONNECT TO PC
  • Install Minimal ADB and Fastboot (Download Version 1.3.1 Here)



Open up the new file in command prompt and type:

Assuming your device is rooted, I go straight to root:

After that, simply type logcat to start live debugging of your android device:



You can pause logging by pressing:

You can resume logging by pressing:

You can filter logs from a specific process:

To save LogCat to a text file open up a terminal window and type:
